Some pieces of advices on boiling
- When boiling pork heart you need a lot of boiling water, so while you're replacing water do not waste your time on waiting until it boils. It is recommended to boil a full pot for replacing water, or boil a separate pan of water into which you would put heart when the time comes.
- Half an hour before the end of the boiling add some onions, carrots or roots to your liking into the pan so the heart and the broth will acquire vegetables flavors. Take into consideration the fact that heart especially "absorbs" carrot's sweetness.
- To make sure heart will not go dry after boiling, it is recommended to cool it and store directly in the broth in which it has been boiling. If you need to cut hot heart, for example for a salad, you should rinse it under cold water and cut it right after.
- You can store pork heart in a fridge, in a pan of broth for 3 days. You can store boiled pork heart in freezer compartment for up to one month from the moment of boiling.
- During boiling, the weight of heart stays the same. Average weight of one byproduct is 400-700 gram.
- You can cook stewed vegetables and cereals (rice, buckwheat) in the remaining water.
